Okesutora Sacramento, CA

We were honored to craft custom white oak furniture for Okesutora, a Japanese-inspired restaurant in Downtown Sacramento. This project required a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship, utilizing authentic Japanese joinery techniques and precision woodworking to create pieces that blend heritage with modern execution.

Our scope of work included:

  • Traditional Japanese-style benches, constructed using through mortise and tenon joinery, assembled without metal fasteners for structural integrity and authenticity.

  • Bent-laminated backrests, requiring a meticulous process of laminating thin white oak strips to achieve the perfect curve while maintaining strength and flexibility.

  • Hand-turned spindles and legs, each cut individually on the lathe, ensuring a level of craftsmanship and uniqueness that mass production cannot replicate.

  • Dovetailed solid white oak countertops, precision-crafted for the main serving bar, with interlocking joints that showcase both durability and fine detail.
